Meet #5 Info: Kanawha @ Ridgetop

This is it, our last home meet of the season! On Monday July 7, at 6:30pm, we host Kanawha. Please arrive by 5:30pm in order to be ready for warmups. This post will be updated with information (meet lineup, buddy lists, etc) so please check back here before the meet. Since this is our last home meet of the summer, the theme of the meet is “There’s No Place Like Home” (i.e., The Wizard of Oz) so come dressed and decorated accordingly!

Please review the list of swimmers who will NOT be attending the meet for accuracy. If you are not attending this meet and your name is not on this list, it is imperative that you email the coach AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Foreseeable last minute cancellations cause disruption of the lineup and buddy list and are disrespectful of your teammates and coaches.

The Buddy List for the meet has been posted. In an effort to increase mixing between younger and older teammates, we randomized the Buddy List for this meet so you should have a new buddy. The coaches again ask that you make signs encouraging your buddy in his/her efforts. We were very pleased at the efforts of the swimmers at the last meet. Keep it up!

The pre-teamers will be swimming in this meet and are indicated by the “PTM” designation in the Buddy List. They are young and for most of them this is their very first meet, which can be an intimidating experience. Older buddies of pre-teamers, please provide extra special support for them!

Below is the current meet line-up. Please be aware that last minute cancellations can occur that change the lineup slightly; you will still need to check the line-up posted at the meet when you arrive for warmups. The Novice events at this meet are Freestyle and Breaststroke, so those events come first. Note that the order of events at this meet does NOT exactly follow the event number. As always the mite relays are first and the other relays are last.

As usual, there will be a number of fundraising events at this meet: a raffle, Kona Ice, Quiznos, and the bake sale. Money spent on these items benefit the swim team! Please consider bringing baked goods to sell at the meet.

Even experienced swimmers and swim parents could benefit from reading pages 22-23 in the swim team handbook about swim meet routines and procedures, as well as this post about how the coaches determine meet line-ups.

See you at the meet!
