On Tuesday, July 5, Ridgetop will be visiting the Country Club of Virginia for our last away meet. The meet start time is 6:30pm and you should arrive about 60 min early to get settled and be ready for warmups. The address is 6031 St. Andrews Lane, Richmond, 23226. The meet theme is USA in recognition of Independence Day and the US Olympic Trials for swimming.
In general, parking is limited; please carpool if possible! All parking for the meet will be directed to the lower lot, located at the west end of the aquatics complex. Spillover traffic will be directed by security guards as needed. Parking is strictly prohibited on St. Andrew’s Lane, just to the north of the main clubhouse, out of courtesy to our neighbors. It is best to enter CCV’s main entrance off Three Chopt Road and proceed to the first left turn – you will pass the pools on your right and then reach the parking area.
The visiting team side of the 8-lane pool deck is the north side, and there will be ample bleacher seating for watching the meet. There is also plenty of room for your families (bags, coolers, and all your team’s gear) on the left side of the Zero-Entry Family Pool, straight ahead upon entering the Gatehouse. Please note that this pool is entirely closed for the meet’s duration; there will be no recreational use of this pool during the meet.
Please review the list of swimmers who will NOT be attending the meet for accuracy. Please email the coach if this is in error. The list includes the “non-responders,” those who have not told me whether or not they are participating in the meet. If your plans change at the last minute, it is imperative that you email the coach AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Obviously unexpected things can happen, but foreseeable last minute cancellations cause disruption of the lineup and buddy list and are disrespectful of your teammates and coaches.
There will be no “official” Buddy List this week; save your creativity for our last two (home) meets! But bring plenty of enthusiasm to cheer for all your Ridgetop teammates during their events.
Lineup last updated: 2:30pm Friday. Be aware that there can be late changes due to last minute cancellations, so don’t forget to verify the events at the meet.
Even experienced swimmers and swim parents could benefit from reading pages 9-11 in the swim team handbook about swim meet routines and procedures, as well as this post about how the coaches determine meet line-ups.
