On Sunday, June 11, Ridgetop will be hosting Lakeside our first meet of the summer! The meet start time is 3pm; you should arrive about 60 min early to get settled and be ready for warmups. The theme for the meet is Hawaiian, so dress accordingly!
Our team will be sitting on the right side of the pool if entering from the lower entrance, ie, the far side from the upper entrance. As always, arrive early and stake out your preferred spot! You will probably want to bring your own chairs as well as healthy snacks. The weather forecast are for pretty warm temperatures so bring plenty of fluid (non-sugary drinks are best).
Swimmers called to the Clerk of Course will report to the area in front of the baby pools near the restrooms. There will be a table set up in the spectator area for your swimmers to pick up their cards from your volunteers. Parents can accompany their children until they are called individually to line up by the Clerk of Course. Parents are not allowed to accompany children once they are seated on the Clerk of Course benches or to the blocks, but there are plenty of volunteers to get the little ones to the blocks in time for their event!
Please review the list of swimmers who will NOT be attending the meet for accuracy. Please email the coach if this is in error. The list includes the “non-responders,” those who have not told me whether or not they are participating in the meet. If your plans change at the last minute, it is imperative that you email the coach AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Obviously unexpected things can happen, but foreseeable last minute cancellations cause disruption of the lineup and buddy list and are disrespectful of your teammates and coaches.
Below is the current meet lineup and the Buddy List, as of 10am on June 11. Be aware that there can be late changes due to last minute cancellations, so don’t forget to verify the events at the meet. The buddy list will be added as soon as it is available.
Even experienced swimmers and swim parents could benefit from reading pages 8-11 in the swim team handbook about swim meet routines and procedures, as well as this post about how the coaches determine meet line-ups.
Quiznos will be at the meet, as well as baked goods from the bake sale. This is a team fundraiser: please consider baking and donating cookies, brownies, or other baked goods!
Speaking of fundraisers, Ridgetop is signed up for Feed More’s Dunk for Hunger with other local pools. Help us end hunger in Central Virginia and we also could win $1000 cash prize for our pool. Please bring canned meats, fish, fruit, veggies, peanut butter, hot and cold cereals, pasta, rice. No glass please. Any questions please contact Cleo Winters at 398-8610 or email@example.com or swim team member Madoc Winters 219-7377
