With only two dual meets left in the regular season, it is time to start thinking about the Championship meet! Please indicate your availability for this meet by logging into your Swim Portal.
Instructions for how to do this are outlined in this post.
“Champs” is a special meet, where you get to spend much of the day with your Ridgetop buddies. How much more incentive do you need??? Okay, I’ll give you one more: secret buddies! I still hear stories from older RT swimmers about their secret buddies.
In order to swim an event at champs, you must meet the qualifying standard for that event. Remember also that we can only enter two swimmers per speed category in any given event. We coaches will be thinking about these things as we create the lineups for the last two meets, and you should be too (we will entertain event requests for those meets).
You might want to check out the current top times, as well as the JRAC time standards. Also remember that you can’t swim an event at Champs that you haven’t swum during the dual meet season.
Even if you have not (YET!) qualified for champs, please indicate your availability for the meet. In past years there have been some big time drops in the last two dual meets!
Also, we need swimmers in ALL speed categories, it isn’t just about those flashy X and XX swimmers. RIdgetop traditionally does very well in the Novice and Regular categories at champs, and winning some of those N and R category relays in the past few years have been among the best highlights of the meet for our team!
For those of you who have attended past Champs meets, there are some big differences this year: there is a change in location (it will be at the SwimRVA pool) and it is only a single day. I think both of these changes will be for the better!
Please let me know if you have any questions about Champs.
